Divya Bharti: A complete account of her tragic death

Few hours before…

A few hours before her death, Divya was happy to have found a flat in Bandra and was describing it to her brother Kunal, whom she was very close to. Soon after the chat, Kunal left for some work. Around 10 pm, she met Neeta Lulla and her husband Dr Shyam Lulla who had come to see her at her Versova residence. The trio was apparently watching TV while chatting over drinks. Divya's maid Amrita, who was also in the living room, went inside the kitchen to get some munchies. The two of them were in conversation, when Divya moved towards a window which did not have a grill attached to it.

The fall…

According to reports, Divya climbed out of the window when no one in the house was looking, and landed on a narrow ledge below it. Her back was towards the living room, and she tried to turn around to hold the window frame. But before she could get hold of the window frame, she slipped from the ledge and fell on the concrete below the window with a loud thud.

Divya… no more

The thud was heard by everybody, who then came running downstairs only to find Divya lying in a pool of blood. She was immediately rushed to hospital, but her pulse rate started falling rapidly. She breathed her last at the emergency department of Cooper Hospital. The immediate cause of death was stated as heavy internal bleeding due to the injury at the back of her head.

Stunts gave her a high

Post the investigations of her death, the question that was left unanswered was how Divya came to get down on the ledge below the window. Although Divya's friends maintained that she liked doing such stunts and playing with death. It gave her a different high.

Accidental death?

While some call it accidental death, there have been other reports in the media hinting at the alleged involvement of the underworld mafia. Official records also state that her maid was very attached to her because she had been taking care of Divya since her birth. Amrita went into acute depression after the incident and stopped interacting with people. She suffered a massive heart attack and died within 30 days of Divya's demise.
