Lara Dutta was born in Ghaziabad to a Punjabi father Wing Commander LK Dutta (retd.) and Anglo-Indian mother Jennifer Dutta. An economics graduate from the University of Mumbai, Lara won the Gladrags Megamodel India in 1995 and subsequently won the highly coveted titles of Miss Intercontinental 1997 and Miss Universe 2000. Within three years of becoming the Miss Universe, Lara made her debut in Bollywood with 2003 film Andaaz and won the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut. She later appeared in a slew of flop films including Khakee, Bardaasht, Aan: Men at Work, Insan and Elaan. No Entry (2005), Bhagam Bhag (2006), Partner (2007) and Housefull (2010) are few of her films that worked at the box-office following that. Lara now appears in supporting roles in Bollywood films. She is married to Indian tennis star Mahesh Bhupathi and has a daughter with him.
