Ikkis Box Office Day 1: Agastya Nanda, Dharmendra’s War Drama Opens On A Promising Note

Ikkis, starring Agastya Nanda and veteran actor Dharmendra, hit theatres on January 1 and has made a strong start at the box office. Directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Sriram Raghavan, the war drama opened to positive reviews from both critics and audiences.

The film has been widely appreciated for its sensitive and grounded storytelling. Instead of relying on loud or hyper-nationalistic elements, Ikkis focuses on human emotions, bravery, and empathy, which seems to have struck a chord with viewers. Many have praised the film for its emotional depth and respectful portrayal of war.

According to early box office reports by Sacnilk, Ikkis performed much better than initial expectations on its opening day. The film earned an estimated Rs 7 crore on Day 1, making it a promising start for the makers.

In terms of theatre occupancy, Ikkis recorded an overall 31.94% footfall on Thursday. Morning shows started on a slower note with 12.09% occupancy. However, the numbers improved significantly in the afternoon, reaching 35.29%. The film saw its highest turnout during the evening shows, with an impressive 46.77% occupancy. Night shows witnessed a slight drop, recording 33.62% occupancy, but the overall trend remained encouraging.

About Ikkis

Ikkis is based on the life of Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal, one of India’s most celebrated war heroes. The film tells the story of his exceptional courage during the 1971 Indo-Pakistan War. Arun Khetarpal was the youngest Indian Army officer to be awarded the Param Vir Chakra, India’s highest military honour, which he received posthumously. His bravery continues to be remembered and respected even today.

The film is produced by Dinesh Vijan under Maddock Films and is written by Sriram Raghavan along with Pooja Ladha Surti and Arijit Biswas. Apart from Agastya Nanda and Dharmendra, the film also features Jaideep Ahlawat, Rahul Dev, Sikandar Kher, Vivaan Shah, Deepak Dobriyal, and Simar Bhatia in key roles.
