Kamal Haasan and Mani Ratnam’s reunion film Thug Life managed to earn just over Rs 35 crore during its extended opening weekend at the box office. It is significantly less than their previous two collaborations, which crossed the Rs 60 crore mark within the same period. The film, a gangster thriller with Kamal Haasan in the lead, is not generating the expected buzz at the domestic box office. After opening at roughly half the amount of their last few releases, the film saw a sharp decline over the weekend, with earnings falling into single digits and continuing to dip on its first Sunday.

The most noticeable slowdown occurred on Friday, when the film’s earnings halved from its opening day total of Rs 15.5 crore.
