Taylor Swift may be heading to India for a private performance at the wedding of Jeet Adani, son of the country’s second richest man, Gautam Adani, according to recent reports. This could mark the pop star’s debut in India, where she boasts millions of fans eager to see her live.
Taylor Swift to perform at Gautam Adani’s son wedding
The wedding of Jeet Adani and Diva Shah is set to take place later this year. A report from News 18 reveals that discussions are ongoing for Taylor to perform at one of the pre-wedding festivities. A source noted, “Taylor Swift’s team is in talks with the Adanis to perform, and while she hasn’t confirmed her presence yet, it looks like this grand wedding will mark her first performance in India.”
This isn’t the first time Taylor has been approached for a significant private event. Last year, she turned down a $9 million offer to perform in the UAE. Rapper French Montana, in a now-deleted post, shared, “They had a show offer for me and Taylor — her $9 million, me $1 million,” adding that it was for a location in the Emirates. The reasons for Taylor’s decision remain unclear.
Taylor’s interest in Indian culture
If she accepts this gig, it would be the 35-year-old’s first performance in India. In 2014, Taylor expressed a desire to visit the country and even mentioned her interest in participating in a Bollywood film. In an interview with Hindustan Times, she stated, “Indian cinema has a lot of music and dance, which excites me. I think Indians share a big passion for song and dance in the movies, which I love. It is a great way of connecting with the audience.”
