EXCLUSIVE: Aahana Kumra Clarifies Calling Out Dhanashree Verma For Playing The Victim Card In Rise And Fall; States, “Repurcussions Hote Hain”

Aahana Kumra and Dhanashree Verma got into an argument where the former accused the latter of playing a victim card. In one of the episodes of Rise and Fall, Dhanashree was called out by Aahana for using her divorce from Yuzvendra Chahal as a way to gain sympathy. Aahana Kumra On Calling Dhanashree Verma For Playing Victim Card

When asked about her claiming Dhanashree Verma is playing the victim card, Aahana Kumra clarified, “Well, I think Dhanashree abhi bhi apni life ke baare mein baat kar rahi hain. And honestly, jaise maine bola, main unko sirf ek hafta hi jaanti hoon. Ek hafte ke upar na maine unse zyaada baat ki hai, na main unko jaanti hoon. Aap jab ek reality show mein aate ho, aapko pata hota hai ki bahut saari baatein nikalengi aapke baare mein, kyunki aapka ek past hota hai. Aur aap usko duniya ke saamne kaise rakhna chahte ho, woh aapka stand hai. Because aapko pata hai ki aap kya baat karna chahte ho. Aur log bahut clear aur careful hote hain about what they say on the show. It’s her stand that she wants to talk about her personal life on the show.”

Aahana On People Talking About Their Personal Lives

She continued, “Jab maine show sign kiya tha, maine do cheezein apne mind mein fix kar li thi. Pehli, ki main ek reality show kar rahi hoon, but I will play it in a very dignified way. Dusri ki main apni personal life bilkul discuss nahi karne wali hoon. Toh aaj tak kisi ko sirf mere parents, meri behen aur mera kaam hi pata hai. Uske alawa meri life ke baare mein kisi ko kuch nahi pata. And I want to keep it that way, because I am actually a really private person.“

Adding further, the actress said, “But if somebody wants to talk about their personal life on the show, it’s on them. Great. Woh unka take hai. Unko lagta hai ki unko ek platform mila hai jahan woh apni personal life discuss karna chahti hain, and she wants to bring her part of the story out. That’s her journey on the show. Par unko yeh samajhna hoga ki har cheez ke repercussions hote hain. I understand repercussions.”

Aahana Kumra On Dealing With Pawan Singh’s Fans’ Threats

She recalled how she dealt with Pawan Singh’s fan sending her threats. Aahana said, “Maine Pawan ji ke baare mein jo bola, mujhe pata tha uske repercussions honge, aur maine unhe face kiya. And I was okay with facing that. In the same way, if somebody wants to talk about their personal life on the show, log toh chaska lekar hi sunenge. Jaise jab aap magazine padhte ho, toh aap magazine kyun padhte ho? Chaska lene ke liye. Life ek magazine ki tarah hai – it depends on how spicy you want to make it. In fact, Dhanashree ne mujhe “spicy” bola hai, but meri life bilkul spicy nahi hai. Meri life toh as bland as possible hai, because main ek bahut hi saatvik tareeke se apni zindagi jeeti hoon. Main ek saatvik insaan hoon.”

Concluding, she said, “Aur agar maine aisa kuch bhi bola hota unke baare mein jaisa woh claim kar rahi hain, toh woh camera par hota. Aur kyunki woh camera par nahi hai, iska matlab maine kabhi aisa bola hi nahi. Makers ek bhi mauka nahi chhodte — agar aapne kuch kaha hai, toh woh dikhate hi hain. So agar unko apni life ke baare mein baat karni hai, toh unko yeh bhi samajhna hoga ki uske repercussions bhi honge.“

She added, “Ek magazine hai jo log tabloid ke hisaab se chaska lekar padhte hain. Aap apni life kaise jeena chahte ho, woh aap par depend karta hai. Agar aap chahte ho ki aapki life ek tabloid bane, toh aap apni life ko tabloid ke taur par duniya ke saamne rakho. Agar aapko lagta hai ki aap apni personal life discuss nahi karna chahte, aur ek neutral life jeeni hai, toh aap tabloid nahi banoge.”

What Happened Between Aahana And Dhanashree?

Aahana Kumra accused Dhanashree Verma of playing the “victim card” during a verbal spat on the reality show Rise and Fall, which began airing in September 2025. The confrontation reportedly arose because Verma repeatedly discussed her divorce from cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal during the competition. Verma had mentioned her divorce multiple times, asserting that despite her personal struggles, the entertainment industry continued to give her work based on her talent.

In response, Kumra accused Verma of constantly referencing her personal tragedy to garner sympathy and playing the victim. In a separate interview, Kumra emphasised, “Don’t play the victim card… You are here to play the game; don’t play the victim card.” The dispute escalated into a heated exchange where Kumra was accused of questioning Verma’s character, which led Verma to break down in tears and express that she felt unsafe.
