Actress Apoorva Mukhija talked about the backlash she faced during the India Got Latent (IGL) controversy, especially from women on social media. She was questioned why women slammed her more during the entire controversy, which even had Ranveer Allahbadia and Samay Raina. She stated that people are conditioned to believe that women like me are ‘bad women’.”
Apoorva Mukhija REVEALS Why More Women Trolled Her During IGL
She explained that society labels women as “bad” if they talk to boys, go out, drink, use strong language, or speak their minds. Apoorva added that people who judge her are just stuck in unhappy lives shaped by those beliefs. Speaking to Bollywood Bubble, she said, “Someone who talks to boys, goes out, drinks, uses cuss words, is opinionated, says what she wants to. If you’ve been told since childhood, ‘Don’t do this, don’t do that, don’t behave like that.’ Then you are conditioned to believe it — you are biased to believe it. So, how can you blame them? They’re just leading sad, miserable lives. And if you can’t seem to understand the place people come from, it just means that you’re not that sad, you’re not that pathetic —And how beautiful is that?”
Apoorva Makhija On Being Thick Skinned
She also revealed that how she has become this thick-skinned person, Apoorva Mukhija said, “Yaar, not all days are days when I think this way, believe this, or say this —But at some point, you just give up. And when you sit down and think about your future, about the life you want, and the things that impact your happiness. Other people’s perceptions don’t even make it to that list. Like, not at all. People say, ‘If you do all this, no one will ever marry you.'”
The Rebel Kid revealed that she was in the French Alps where the IGL controversy began. She added, “But I don’t even want to marry someone like that, right? So why should I be upset that someone I don’t even want doesn’t want me either? It’s just all so pointless. And I feel like I’ve had so much hate on the internet — so much —That when something gets that excessive, it becomes nothing. I said this today too —When the whole Latent thing happened and everyone was posting articles about me, I was actually on a trip with my friend in France. I was in the French Alps — we had gone to attend Tomorrowland Winter. And up there, on that mountain top, there was no signal. So I couldn’t check Reddit, the news, or my WhatsApp groups to see what was happening.”
Concluding, she said, “And after two hours, I just forgot that I was even supposed to check. I was just there — living without my phone, in the French Alps, listening to hard techno, doing random stuff with my friends. And my friend Rahul said, ‘At your lowest point, you are here. Who gets to do that?’ And that made me realise — it doesn’t matter. Even if they publish 50 more articles about me. Kya farak padhta hai? I’m out here having fun, man. And that became true for everything I did after that. Like, if I get 50 hate comments because of Traitors, kya farak padhta hai? If 50 people praise me, again, kya farak padhta hai?”
