chitrangda singh, tanu weds manu, gangster, mangal pandey,

Chitrangda Singh is an actress who works primarily in Hindi films. She made her acting debut with Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi (2005). Singh is known for her appearance in Yeh Saali Zindagi (2011), Desi Boyz (2011) and I, Me Aur Main (2013), Baazaar (2018), Bob Biswas (2021) and Gaslight (2023). She turned producer with Soorma (2018). Singh has since appeared in the series Modern Love Mumbai (2022) and Khakee: The Bengal Chapter (2025). In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Bubble, Chitrngda Singh admitted to losing out on roles and taking wrong decisions.

Chitrangda Singh Admits Taking Wrong Decisions And Losing Roles

When asked if ever any filmmaker rejected her, saying she was married and couldn’t have done roles, Chitrangda Singh said, “See, I mean, nobody ever said it to my face. But maybe they were talking about it. I don’t know. But no one has ever come up to me and said anything like that. Maybe they thought about it, but they never told me. I may have suffered in some ways, or maybe I didn’t get certain projects—who knows? I have no idea because no one has ever directly said to me, ‘Yes, we were thinking of casting you in this film, but you’re married and we can’t cast you.'”

She added, “That has never happened to me at all. In fact, there were some really good projects that, for some reason, I didn’t take up at the time. I made some bad decisions. Gangster was one film that eventually went to Kangana. Then Tanu Weds Manu came to me. In between, there was also a part in Mangal Pandey. So I think I actually made some really silly decisions, maybe took bad advice at that point. You don’t know, you’re new to the industry, you don’t know anyone here. I’m not from Mumbai, I’m not from the industry. So maybe I did end up making some bad decisions, but those were my mistakes. Those were all my bad calls.”

Chitrangda Singh On Balancing Motherhood And Work

Furthermore, the actress said, “So no, I don’t think I ever felt that being married or unmarried affected anything. And even whether she has a kid or doesn’t, I took a seven-year break. I had my son, and then I came back into films. So right from Desi Boyz to Inkaar and all these films—I did everything after I had my son. I was already a mother then, and I don’t think that affected my work either. I really think for a woman… I mean, your life changes.”

Concluding, she said, “Your perspective on life changes. Your thinking evolves. The way you look at things changes. What makes you feel complete, what brings you the most happiness—it all shifts. Work is there, but the biggest therapy is just sitting at home. You know, you go back, and you forget about everything. There’s nothing more beautiful than that. I’ve made mistakes. I’ve made bad calls, and I wish I hadn’t. But it is what it is, you learn.”
