EXCLUSIVE: DYK, Aamir Khan’s Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar Had Gotten Shelved! Deepak Tijori Reveals How He Became Shekhar Despite Milind Soman Shooting 75% Of The Film

Deepak Tijori is a film director and actor who works in Bollywood and Gujarati films for several years now. The actor – who became a household name after playing Shekhar in Aamir’s debut film Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar, is all set to impress the audience with his upcoming project, Echoes of Us. While promoting the short film, Deepak sat down for an exclusive interview with Bollywood Bubble and got candid about several things.

Deepak Tijori On Replacing Milind Soman In Aamir Khan’s Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar

When asked if Milind Soman was supposed to play Shekhar Malhotra in Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar, Deepak Tijori said, “Milind was doing it. I had auditioned for it and was not taken for it. Mansoor ne khudh ne bataya interview mein ki Deepak audition karke gaya tha lekin maine select nahi kiya tha use. Aur main khaffah bhi usi baat se tha ki yeh performance mera itna acha gaya tha lekinmujhe select nahi kiya. Toh jaise aage movie karte hai main kargaya tha, toh meri Aashiqui ban gaye, chal gaye. Fir ek din, Bhatt sahab Ooty mein Dil Hai Ke Manta Nahin ki shooting kar rahe the, toh do din ke gap ki wajah se aaye the.”

He added, “Toh Jo Jeeta ka shooting bhi chalu tha, aur Milind ko lekar almost 75 % film shoot bhi hogaye thi. It was done, so I had no idea what was going on. I used to hear stories ki Jo Jeeta mein koi lafda hua hai, but that’s something that happens on every set. Toh I was like main usme hoon bhi nahi, mujhe nahi sunna. I was busy with my own life, mujhe Aashiqui milgaye, Bhatt sahab ne Sadak de di, toh main apna naach raha tha balle balle. Bhatt sahab ka phone aaya tha, kya kar raha hai? I said kuch nahi, he said shaam ko ghar aaja. Toh hume toh waise bhi furniture, toh humaare liye toh roz ka tha ki Bhatt sahab aagaya main. Toh jab main pahuncha, he said ‘Kal kya kar raha hai?'”

Deepak Tijori Recalls Mahesh Bhatt Asking Him To Meet Mansoor

Further adding, Tijori said, “I said, ‘Aap bolo kya karna hai?’ He said, ‘You have to go and meet Mansoor.’ Aise mujhe literally bola, ki ‘Go meet Mansoor, kiu toh unhone bola ki Aamir wants you to do that role. Toh maine bola Bhatt sahab ‘I am not going’. So, you know how he is; that’s his love and affection. He gives gaalis, he said, ‘Go talk ot him.’ So, I met Mansoor, I got to meet Nasir sahab.’ I’m sitting in front of him, and he said, ‘Beta tujhe yeh karna hai’ and I was like, ‘Sir, hukum.’ Bas mera unse ek hi sawaal tha, ki aap kaise kisi actor ko mana kar dete ho toh kya hai toh use pata hai ki aapne mujhe select kiya hai. He said, ‘Beta, sab kuch ho chuka hai.'”

The actor concluded, “Aur mujhe ek cheez baadme pata chali thi joh mujhe 30 years mein nahi pata chali thi. Toh main, Aamir aur Mansoor mile the, toh hum log ek dusre ko kuch yaadh dila rahe the. That’s when they told me, ‘Terko maalum hai Deepak, picture bandh hogai thi.’ I had a similar reaction, bandh thi picture aur Mansoor depression mein tha. Picture bandh karke maine papa ke paise barbaad kardiya tha, yeh woh. Uss time pe, jab main aaya aur mere saath Rajput boys ko liya tabh film chalu hui hai wapis. That is why I say, if you take life the way I see it, I have no regrets. In what has happened in my career, what will happen in my career, I am looking forward to it.”
