EXCLUSIVE: Dhurandhar’s Hirav Mehta Reveals Being ‘Flabbergasted’ After Ranveer Singh Acknowledged His Work; Shares, “He Cheered For Me, Remembered My Name”

Hirav Mehta continues to grab headlines after his pivotal car crash scene in Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar. In an exclusive conversation with Bollywood Bubble, he spoke about working with a star-studded cast, recalling how Ranveer Singh cheered and rooted for him during a take, while also sharing about his brief screen time and experience with Akshaye Khanna. Hirav Mehta Opens Up On His Experience Working With Ranveer Singh

When asked about his experience working with lead Ranveer Singh, Hirav said, “It was my first day on the set, and we were shooting the viral walk wala Flipperachi one, so main toh set pe jaldi aa gaya tha. And then Ranveer Singh sir was going to come. I saw him enter the set, the way he carries himself, aur aapko toh pata hi hai Dhurandhar mein unka kya look hai. He is huge, unki daadhi aur unke woh bade-bade baal, jaise hi unhone entry ki, I was like, ‘Wow yaar, what a guy, what an aura,’ and what a well-spoken person he is. Again, as a new actor in a Bollywood film, it’s difficult to directly go and approach. You need to understand that space, the vibe, so I waited.”

He continued, “I knew I would go and meet him for sure, but I waited. Phir humne directly woh scene start kar diya, jahan pe he and Akshaye Khanna sir exit from the car, and we all are walking. Do-teen baar us scene ke takes hue, and then ek baar beech mein ek bada cut hua. Make-up artists unko touch-up kar rahe the, toh I felt this is the best moment to go and talk to him. Woh gaadi mein hi baithe the, door open tha, jaise hi touch-up wale side hue, I went to him and said, ‘Hello Ranveer Singh sir, my name is Hirav Mehta, and it’s really a pleasure being in the same film as you.’ And he was like, ‘You are doing great, tum achha kar rahe ho.’ I was flabbergasted ki yaar Ranveer Singh sir gaadi mein se dekh rahe the ki main kaisa perform kar raha hoon. Not only me, but he was making sure everybody on the set was performing well and doing great. Phir humara ek brief introduction hua.”

Hirav Mehta Shares Lead Ranveer Singh Cheered For Him During A Take

Praising Ranveer Singh, sharing how he encouraged him during a take, Hirav said, “Ek cheez main kabhi nahi bhoolunga. Raat ko jab woh scene shoot hua, us scene mein hum teen hi the, Ranveer Singh sir, Shirani, and me. Un dono ke close-ups ho gaye the, then it was my chance. Ranveer Singh sir camera ke peeche khade the, aur jaise hi mera shot aaya, he was like, ‘Let’s go Hirav!’. He cheered for me. He remembered my name. Subah introduction hua tha, and by the end of the day, he still remembered it. Him making everybody feel equal, giving everyone the same importance, that’s what really inspired me. Agar main kabhi life mein us position pe aaya, I would want to do the same thing.”

Hirav Mehta Says Working With Ranveer Singh And Akshaye Khanna Was An Acting Masterclass

When asked about Akshaye Khanna’s off-screen personality, working closely with him, Hirav Mehta said, “Most of what you guys know is actually very true. He is a very nice guy. Whenever you go and introduce yourself to him, jaise main gaya tha, he was very smiley and happy, and he acknowledged everything warmly. Lekin set pe humari zyada baatein nahi hui because sir ki ek cheez hai, he is always in work mode. Matlab if work is on, work is on. Woh clearly dikhta hai. And I’ll tell you one thing, working with Ranveer Singh sir and Akshaye Khanna sir was like an acting masterclass. Joh acting aap log screen pe dekhte ho, maine real life mein dekhi. Aur maine har scene ke alag alag variations dekhe hai. So it was truly an acting masterclass from both of them.”
