Ceiri Torjussen On Starring Alongside Shah Rukh Khan In English Babu Desi Mem

When asked which Indian or international star he would love to have as part of his next composition Ceiri Torjussen recalled a found memory. Revealing how he’s already worked with the Badshaah of Bollywood, the composer said, “I spent a day on set as an extra in a Shah Rukh Khan film while I was traveling in India in 1995. The film was English Babu Desi Mem, and I had to pretend to be a western traveler in “Heathrow Airport”, (shot at the Mumbai airport!) It was a fun day and Shah Rukh seemed like a lovely guy, so I think he’d be a good guy to write music for.”

During the same interaction, we quizzed Torjussen about which Indian composer he would you love to collaborate with and why? To this he answered, “I think A.R. Rahman is a master of so many genres, so he’d be a dream collaborator for me.”

When asked ‘Which international/American composer would you love to collaborate with and why’, the music composer replied, “Jonny Greenwood (of Radiohead fame) I think is one of the most interesting film composers working today, and he works on such amazing films with great directors. He would be a bucket-list composer for me!”

When asked what kind of music he would love to compose next, Ceiri Torjussen replied, “For which genre I’ve always wanted to compose a true space sci-fi score. Something more cerebral, along the lines of 2001: A Space Odyssey (more so than a Star Wars or Star Trek film). I think it would really allow me to experiment in unusual, extreme ways, so I know that would be a dream job for me.”
