MTV’s iconic dating reality show Splitsvilla is back with its 16th season titled Splitsvilla X6, promising fresh drama, romance and unexpected twists. This season sees the return of the ever-popular Sunny Leone as host, alongside a dynamic new addition to the franchise, Karan Kundrra. Together, the duo continues to bring energy, wit and authenticity to the show while keeping audiences hooked episode after episode. In an exclusive conversation, the hosts opened up about some of the biggest questions surrounding reality television, from whether shows like Splitsvilla are scripted to whether reality TV has become a shortcut to fame for the younger generation. Is Splitsvilla Scripted? Sunny Leone And Karan Kundrra Clarify

Addressing the most debated question around reality shows, Sunny Leone explained that while the format has a structure, the reactions and decisions come entirely from the contestants. Sharing insight into how the show unfolds, Sunny said, “There is a general like idea, we know that we have to get from A to point B, but how it happens is not us, it is them. Because based on their choices, based on how they react, we move forward. So we have no idea how they are going to react.”

Expanding on the same thought, Karan Kundrra added how the team may design situations but never dictates behaviour. “As Sunny said, humlog ek plan banate hai, for example aaj aise karenge, aapko ye option denge, ab aap ye kaise karne wale ho woh toh aapke uppar hai na, hum thodi jaake bataenge ki ek kaam karna aise react karna, aise nahi hota.”

Sunny Leone also shared that some of her favourite moments are those in which unpredictability takes over, especially during dome sessions. “My favourites are when I don’t know, I have no idea what the answer’s gonna be, kyunki aise moments hai especially during our dome sessions, there were a few dome sessions where there literally is a table you picked something, it’s by random, whatever you get, whoever is eliminated, whoever is dumped we are completely fine with, and the choices will be upto them.” Wrapping up the topic, Karan summed it up simply, “You can’t predict what’s gonna happen.”

Do Reality Shows Offer A Shortcut To Fame?

The conversation then shifted to whether reality shows provide an easy entry into fame for today’s youth. Sharing his honest take, Karan said, “100%, why not? And what’s the harm?”

Sunny, however, offered a more layered perspective on the idea of shortcuts and personal goals. “Shortcut meaning, like it’s the easy way to get other work? I think each individual is different; it depends on what your goals are in life, like what you want to do. And I think reality television is probably one of the most-watched genres on either a platform or television. We are addicted to watching human beings doing all sorts of different things.

Leone further added, “Be it cooking, baking, or reality shows, or adventure shows, we wanna see what’s real because we are being shown so many other things, which is great, but psychologically we are addicted. I wanna know what is going on in your life, what do you do? How’s your life related to my life, and that’s where I think people get hooked, is by watching it and or how do I aspire to be like that person we’re seeing on television.”

Karan Kundrra’s Take On Youth

Karan added that visibility has become the currency of the modern era. “I think reality shows get you a lot of eyeballs. Times have changed, this is the ‘hyper’ kind of era we’re living in, relevance, eyeballs, and it’s not just actors; it’s politicians, corporations, everybody. They’re just doing things that get the attention, you need to have the attention, aaj ki date mein aap kuch nahi kar sakte if you don’t have eyeballs.”
