Romanian singer and performer Iulia Vantur has steadily established her presence in the Indian entertainment industry through music, live performances and film projects. Over the years, she has collaborated with prominent names such as Salman Khan and composer Himesh Reshammiya. Recently, Iulia teamed up with Arijit Singh for the song Tere Sang, in her upcoming film Echoes of Us, which also marks his first single after announcing his retirement from playback singing. During a recent exclusive chat with Bollywood Bubble, the Romanian performer opened up about the collaboration, meeting the singer and recording the track. Read on to know what she shared.
Iulia Vantur On Her Collaboration With Arijit Singh For Tere Sang
Speaking about the song and how the collaboration came together, Iulia Vantur shared how grateful she felt to have Arijit Singh lend his voice to the track. She said, “I’m very excited because it’s a beautiful song, first of all. And second of all, I mean it’s not second of all, the most important thing, I think, is the fact that Arijit Singh has lent his voice, his magical voice, on this track. So I feel so grateful and honoured to be part of it. You know, he heard my voice I think, before talking to me on the phone, because initially I recorded the whole song.”
The Romanian singer continued, “It was meant like that for the movie, and we sent him the song. And he liked it. I was obviously nervous knowing that I’m going to meet Arijit, you know. But he was so warm and so welcoming and such a beautiful human being. So the moment I met him, I was just relaxed. I knew that there was no judgment, there were no expectations in that sense.”
Iulia Vantur On Visiting Arijit Singh’s Hometown
Recalling her experience of meeting and working with the singer, Iulia described visiting his place and the warm atmosphere that surrounded him. She said, “Actually, we went to his place. It was beautiful. It was amazing. I love all those small shops. When we were passing by car, you could see the merchants and the tailor and everyone doing their crafts. It was very nice actually. And it’s a beautiful atmosphere there. His surroundings, he made them in a way that it feels so safe. I feel safe and warm.”
She further added, “It’s his universe and it’s such a beautiful universe. He’s all about music, people, community, helping, an amazing human being. I’m happy that I got a chance to know him and to be in the studio with him, because you don’t get chances like that very often. So I feel very fortunate. Somebody up there definitely loves me.”
Iulia Vantur Recalls The Process Of Recording The Song
Talking further about how the song was recorded, Iulia revealed that they revisited the track to bring out deeper emotions that matched her character in the film. She explained, “Actually, the first time I sang it with more attention to the voice. Then both of us recorded again because we felt like we wanted a little bit more emotion and softer from my side, especially softer. Even for my part in the movie, my character, what she was going through, it needed somehow to be softer and more pale, you know. So yeah, it’s according to my character in the film as well, because it’s for the film, right? So yeah, and he guided me.
Iulia went on to appreaciate Arijit saying,“He was very kind to give me advice. I was happy to hear that he’s appreciating me as an artist as well, which is very kind of him. He doesn’t need to do all these things, you know. But still he does it, and it’s so encouraging and kind and beautiful.”
Through Tere Sang, Iulia Vantur not only adds another song to her growing musical repertoire but also cherishes a rare opportunity to collaborate with Arijit Singh, post his playback singing retirement announcement. Reflecting on the experience, she highlighted not just his musical brilliance but also his humility and warmth, qualities that made the entire journey of recording the song even more special for her.
