Manish Chaudhari On TV Actors Being Treated Differently
When asked, since he was a TV actor, if he ever didn’t get the lead role or if there was any different treatment, Manish Chaudhari said, “Nahin. Toh, I mean, jo us waqt television hota tha, wo weekly chalta tha. Daily soaps ka zamana jis tarah se aaya, wo us waqt nahi aaya hua tha. Toh episodic kaam bahut hota tha, weekly kaam hota tha. 26 episodes ke series bante the, jo aadhe saal chalte the, chh mahine. Aur 52 ke bante the jo poora saal chalte the, aur once a week. To us waqt TV pe kaam karke aisa lagta tha jaise aap almost film par hi kaam kar rahe ho. Because uska daily soap ka jo ek logistics aaya baad mein, us waqt tak nahi aaya hua tha. So I was actually very lucky to have started at that time.”
He added, “Aur phir mujhe hamesha se ye pata tha ki mujhe daily soap mein kaam nahi karna hai. Aur kyunki usmein ek jo uski jo time ki logistics hoti hai, phir aap usmein ek tarah se ban jaate ho, aur phir jo aur kaam aap karna chahte ho, wo nahi kar paate. Toh, I was lucky ki mujhe Sudhir ne ye kaam diya. Phir Hansal ke saath kuch episodic kaam kiya maine, Shriram Raghavan ke saath episodic kaam kiya, Shivam Nair ke saath kiya. To ye bahut acche directors jo ab films bana rahe hain, us waqt Imtiaz ke saath kiya. Toh woh us waqt episodic kaam karte the, so it worked out nicely. Aur phir ads thode se milne start ho gaye mujhe. Toh luckily mujhe phir woh kaam nahi karna pada jo main nahi karna chahta tha.”
Manish Chaudhari On Being Typecast
Speaking of if he was ever typecast for any role, Manish replied, “Toh audience jo hai, woh ye chahti hai ki unka ek comfort level bane, aur un chhaviyon se jo woh parde par dekhte hain, jo actors hain. Toh jo bahut successful actors hain, woh usually bahut similar kirdaar baar-baar karte hain, kyunki audience unko us chhavi mein dekhna chahti hai. So that is part of the film industry anywhere in the world. Wo to duniya bhar mein aise hi hota hai.“
Concluding, he said, “Yahan par meri chaah hamesha yehi thi ki main ek variety of roles karoon. Jitne different genres mein main kaam kar paoon—chahe wo military film ho, chahe wo gangster aur cops ho, chahe wo family drama ho, chahe wo love story ho, us tarah ke. I have been very lucky that I have had quite a variety of roles to play. So I have never really faced a problem with that.”
Manish Chaudhari was last seen in Aryan Khan’s Ba***ds Of Bollywood.
