EXCLUSIVE: Nushrratt Bharuccha REVEALS Being Typecast As Mean Girl After Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety, Pyaar Ka Punchnama Release; Says, “Manipulative, Controlling Ladki”

Nushrratt Bharuccha is an Indian actress who mainly works in Hindi films. After working in television, she made her film debut with Jai Santoshi Maa (2006). She gained recognition for her roles in Love Sex Aur Dhokha (2010) and Pyaar Ka Punchnama (2011), Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2 (2015), Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety (2018), and Dream Girl (2019). She has since starred in Chhorii (2021), Janhit Mein Jaari (2022) and Ram Setu (2022). In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Bubble, Nushrratt Bharuccha reveals being typecast after doing Pyaar Ka Punchnama and Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety.

When asked about actresses typecast after doing certain films, Nushratt Bharuccha said, “Yaar mere saath to thoda ulta tha. Bubbly se zyada mera to Pyaar Ka Punchnama wale ho gaye the. Haan ki ‘arey woh chant waali thodi, manipulative thodi, controlling’. Maine kaha, ek character tha yaar jo do baar play kiya. Theek hai chalo teen baar play kar liya, but that doesn’t mean sirf wahi kar sakti hoon ya wahi karna chahiye. And I think what’s shocking to me is some really smart people think like that. Yaar to mujhe aisa lagta hai, itne smart hone ke bawajood aap aise sochte ho to mujhe thoda doubt lagta hai… Ki main koi aur planet se aa rahi hoon kya?”

She added, “Like, am I not on the same thought and wavelength as you? How can you—I find it all like. I swear, I had somebody who said, ‘Arey agar hum aapko cast kar denge to, kyunki aapne you know woh twist waala character play kiya hai. Toh log sochenge ki aap abhi kuch twist karoge’. Maine kaha, ‘But aapki script mein twist hai hi nahi’. Maine kaha, ‘Toh matlab eventually, when I do it, and when the story progresses, they will see that it’s not there’. And it’s equally my job to get into your part and get into your script. Toh aise kaise soch sakte ho aap? Main, I can understand the audience soche, haan, because they don’t live this day in and day out. They have other jobs, but yeh to humara rozi roti hai. Hum roz hi karte hain.”
