EXCLUSIVE: Rahul Raj Singh Questions Kamya Panjabi’s Claim Of Having A 7-Year-Old Child Amid Rs 1 Cr Defamation Suit

Rahul Raj Singh, the former boyfriend of late actress Pratyusha Banerjee, filed a defamation case against actress Kamya Panjabi in 2018. The case stems from allegations Kamya made after Pratyusha’s tragic death on April 1, 2016. Rahul claims he was unfairly blamed for Pratyusha’s death and called a murderer without proof. In a recent statement, he made a shocking claim, questioning Kamya’s personal life and even demanding proof that she has a 7-year-old child. Rahul says the accusations damaged his image and career, and he is now seeking Rs 1 crore in damages for defamation and emotional distress caused by the actress.

Rahul Raj Singh Opens Up On Defamation Case Against Kamya Panjabi

In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Bubble, Rahul Raj Singh opened up his ongoing defamation case against Kamya Punjabi. The actor said, “Tomorrow is the 18th, let’s see what happens. We might file the evidence tomorrow that I (referring to himself) am bringing my child, who is seven years old.”

He shared, “So, the defamation case wasn’t filed immediately; it was filed in 2018. Once we filed it, we got a stay order from the court preventing the release of the short film. But despite that, she went ahead and released the film, which was a clear contempt of court. That happened in 2018. The case kept moving from one courtroom to another and took a lot of time.”

Continuing, he added, “Just when we started pursuing it seriously, the COVID-19 pandemic hit. After that, the court system became overloaded with high-priority cases, including custody matters and criminal cases. Civil courts even started handling criminal matters due to the sheer volume of pending cases. That’s why the case got delayed. Otherwise, a judgment would have been passed by now. The delay wasn’t intentional—it was circumstantial. Meanwhile, the damage was already done; she had released the film, and it really ruined my reputation.”

Rahul On People Calling Kamya ‘True Friend’

Rahul Raj added, “If I had stayed quiet and tolerated the short film, if I had just let it go and not reacted, nothing would have happened. But releasing that film was a deliberate move—it gave her the media attention she wanted. People praised her posts, calling her a “true friend.” She achieved her goal. But the mistake she made was releasing that film despite the stay order. That triggered me.”

About Defamation Case

Rahul Raj Singh claims that Kamya Panjabi unfairly blamed him for Pratyusha’s death and publicly accused him of being a murderer without providing evidence. Singh states that the short film was related to Pratyusha’s life and struggles, but he claims the film portrayed him in a negative light and that Kamya had tampered with an old video featuring Pratyusha for publicity.
