EXCLUSIVE: Sandeepa Dhar REVEALS The Reasons Behind Her Rejection In Films; Says, “Nobody Said To Om Puri Ki Aapke Chehere Pe…”

Sandeepa Dhar On Rejections

In an exclusive chat with Bollywood Bubble, Sandeepa Dhar shares an anecdote on rejection and how she faced it. She says,” I feel like these are just excuses that people give you, I feel like if you’re a fabulous actor na, you’ll be casted irrespectively, it’s something we are lacking hence, people are making up excuses of this is not there, that is not there. I feel like you to be such a good performer that people will take you irrespective, nobody said to Om Puri ki aapke chehere pe gadde hai, he was such a good performer, people took him irrespective.”

“Konkona is a prime example like she’s such a brilliant performer, nobody is going to say that she’s not a glamorous enough to be in any film, she’s done a Dharma film, Dharma is all about glamour. I feel like ultimately, if you’re a great performer, nothing else matters.”
 
“I always get so…. Actually Ialways want to films like Anurag Kashyap, raw, gritty, gaaon ki kahani but, I look like this and they’re like you don’t look like someone who’s from a village and I’m like, ‘No, we can make me look like that.’ Audition me and lets put me in that costume, makeup, hair and let’s try and do that. I really fight for opportunities and be like at least test me for it, don’t give me the part, at least give me chance to test for it.”

“So I have had fights over this, I fought with Abhay that, ‘I can play a cop, don’t think of me as this petit girl, I can play a cop.’ So yeah I’ve had where I had to fight for things and I feel like a lot of times opportunities get away on the basis of who you know, what you know, who’s neice you are, who’s nephew you are lot of that also happens but that’s part of it.”
