As excitement builds for the release of Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari, starring Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor, filmmaker Shashank Khaitan has finally addressed the much-talked-about box office clash with Rishab Shetty’s highly anticipated Kantara: Chapter 1. While fans and industry watchers are curious about how the two films will perform against each other, Khaitan made it clear that box office numbers are not his focus.
Shashank Khaitan On Sunny Sanskari Vs Kantara
Sharing his thoughts with Bollywood Bubble, he said, “I’ve genuinely never been a person for box office. I believe that if you make a film with love, it translates and it reaches out. I have a prayer book right in front of me, and in that prayer book, no target is ever written. I have so much gratitude in my heart for the life I’ve been living. My only prayer always is gratitude and love for everyone, and I’m not saying this as a philosophical thing. I believe if I put a number down, I am limiting the potential of that film. Why should I limit the film to a number, which I feel is a correct number? I believe my film is limitless.”
Khaitan expressed full support for Kantara as well. He added, “I feel my film has limitless potential. If it reaches the hearts and minds of people, they will give it as much love. And whether I’m coming with Kantara or not. I have all the love for Kantara. I think it’s such a great piece of cinema being created, but it’s so different from Sunny that I think people are gonna go and watch both films. They might watch one film on a Friday and one on a Saturday, or vice versa. I think it’s great for cinema that we have two interesting genres releasing—two genres which are both making noise.”
With both films offering very different cinematic experiences, Khaitan remains optimistic that audiences will support both stories, making it a win-win for Indian cinema.
