Suniel Shetty

Suniel Shetty is an actor, film producer, entrepreneur and television personality who is predominantly active in Hindi films. In a career spanning over 30 years, he has acted in over 100 films. In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Bubble, Suniel Shetty opened up on how communication today has evolved with technology leading to no personal connection in Bollywood.

Suniel Shetty On Lack Of Support In Bollywood

When quizzed about the lack of support in the industry nowadays, Suniel Shetty said, “Kyuki pehle hum ek dusre ko jaakar milte the, aaj message bhej dete hai. Pehle jab shaadi hoti thi kissi ki beti ki, tab hum cards lekar jaate the, ek mithaai ka box lekar jaate the… aaj aapne e-cards bhejna shuru kar diya. Aapne phone karna chodh diya. Toh you can just blame that.”

He continued, “It’s just that we have evolved so much that aajkal ke bacho ko lagta hai ki message bhej diya haina maine. Lekin subah uthke, agar mumma ko phone karoge yaa fir relative ko phone karoge, ‘kaise ho aap (puchoge)’ toh that one thing is enough. Tone, voice, ek alag message deti hai aur text messages ek alag feel deti hai.”

Sharing a personal experience, he added, “Koi bhi mujhe email bhejta hai toh main kabhi respond nahi karta hoon. I don’t respond to emails. Because it sounds very courteous, when someone picks up the phone and talks to me, I make sure that I respond. Somebody called me for a wedding – could be anybody, the minute I don’t get a phone call, I will never go to that wedding, (especially) if it’s by mail or e-cards. Because that’s what I am used to, ki (koi bole), ‘Kaha ho aap? Aajao please, you know it’s my daughter’s wedding and it would mean a lot.’ Then I feel it will mean a lot to that man. So that has gone.”

Sooraj Pancholi, Akanksha Sharma On Lack Of Support In Bollywood

Sooraj Pancholi also gave his view, said, “I don’t know, maybe the peak era existed when Suniel sir or my dad were there. I think that was the golden period for films because all the actors were not colleagues, but they were friends, they were brothers. And those kinds of films are also not made anymore. I don’t know what it is.”

Adding on, Akanksha Sharma said, “In times like this, we definitely need films, we need companionship and we all should come together, join hands and take our industry forward.”
