EXCLUSIVE: Women’s Day Special! Neena Gupta Comments On Surge of Female-Led Projects; Says, “OTT Ne Women Centric Kuch Nahi Kiya”

On International Women’s Day, Neena Gupta shared her perspective on the impact of digital platforms on female-led projects. Contrary to popular belief, she stated that OTT hasn’t specifically done anything for women but has primarily provided opportunities for small-budget films, writers, and actors.

Neena Gupta Says OTT Hasn’t Done Anything For Women Centric Projects

Neena also stated that while more content is being created, it is driven by budget constraints rather than a conscious effort to promote women-centric stories. In conversation with Bollywood Bubble, Neena shared,

“OTT ne women centric kuch nahi kiya yehi kiya hai ki kyuki budget chote hote hai toh writers sab new new subjects pe bana sakthe hai. Humari zarurat hoti hai toh humko kaam mil jata hai. OTT has done nothing it’s all because of money when a big film is being made, it is being released then they can’t risk it, but in small-budget films, they can experiment. Even people like us the older generation got many parts to play in the stories.”

However, she acknowledged that the rise of digital platforms has allowed talented individuals, regardless of gender, to find work and showcase their craft in ways that were previously limited in mainstream cinema.

Neena Gupta, who has been an inspiration for many with her journey also shared her advice to young women and said, “Keep yourself safe and keep earning.”
