Actor Yuvika Chaudhary, who went on to carve her own space in the entertainment industry, began her journey with a dream many young aspirants share: to see herself on screen. That dream turned into a reality when she made her Bollywood debut in Farah Khan’s Om Shanti Om, sharing screen space with none other than Shah Rukh Khan. From childhood fantasies shaped by television ads to standing on a film set with the superstar she once admired from afar, Yuvika’s journey feels nothing short of destined.
In an exclusive interview, Yuvika looked back at her life before marriage, her early dreams, and the magical moments that led her to Om Shanti Om. Read on to know more.
Yuvika Chaudhary On Her Magical Om Shanti Om Debut
From a very young age, Yuvika knew she wanted to be on screen. As she shared, “Meri ek khwaaish thi, ki life mein mujhe ek baar screen pe dekhna hai, TV pe aana hai mujhe. Tab toh TV hi hota tha, hum bohot chote chote the toh ads chal rahe hote the, aur main ads dekh ke bolti thi ki mujhe ek baar aise screen pe aana hai.” Along with that aspiration came a fascination for Bollywood and its biggest star. “And I used to dream ki yaar Shah Rukh Khan kaise rehta hoga, kaisi life jeeta hoga? There was this huge attraction for Bombay and Bollywood.”
Recalling how cinema almost mirrored her own destiny, she added, “Jab maine meri hi film ka dialogue suna ‘Jab kisi cheez ko shiddat se chaaho toh poori kaynaat tumhe usse milane mein lag jaati hai’ so that was true. My life was planned by God like this only.”
Her first brush with the city of dreams left a lasting impression on her. Yuvika remembered seeing Shah Rukh Khan’s hoarding when she landed in Mumbai and instantly feeling a sense of resolve. “Jab main pehli baar city aayi thi aur airport pe Shah Rukh ka hoarding dekha, toh maine socha mujhe yahan se jaana nahi hai. I want to work with him. And cut to after a few years, I was actually working with him, surprisingly.”
Yuvika Chaudhary On Working With Farah Khan And Shah Rukh Khan
Talking about working with director Farah Khan, Yuvika expressed deep gratitude for being chosen for the film. “I can’t forget she has chosen me for the film, main bohot hi thankful hoon. She is very particular with what she wants — mere kirdaar mein mujhe kya karna hai, kaise karna hai, kaisa look hai.” She also highlighted how Farah ensured she never felt out of place despite being new among established actors. “Lekin unhone mujhe kabhi aisa feel nahi hone diya ki main nayi hoon. Among the big actors, she made me feel so comfortable. Main kabhi nahi bhoolungi woh pyaar. You know how they say firsts are special — so for me, she is very, very special and I love her.”
Recalling her first interactions with Shah Rukh Khan on set, Yuvika described the moment with warmth. “It was very nice. I still remember I was doing my shot and I heard him saying ‘good decision’ to the casting team — that was the first thing.” She further added, “First interaction was jab film ka muhurat tha. He came for a while, and then he left, saying he had to handle the kids. Tab mujhe laga ki he is also a nice human being, not just a big star.”
From dreaming about Bollywood as a child to living that dream alongside Shah Rukh Khan in Om Shanti Om, Yuvika Chaudhary’s story is rooted in belief, perseverance, and serendipity. Her reflections reveal not just the making of an actor, but the quiet moments, gratitude, and human connections that shaped her early journey — memories she continues to cherish even today.
