On Monday, December 1, actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu and director Raj Nidimoru took to social media and announced their marriage. The duo – who kept mum about their relationship despite being constantly in the headlines for it since the start of 2025- tied the knot in an intimate ceremony at the Isha Yoga Foundation in Coimbatore.
Since the duo shared glimpses of their wedding ceremony, the pictures not only went viral, but also got everyone talking about the massive bling adorning the actress’ left ring finger. Want to know more about this ring – that was first snapped on Sam’s hand back in February 2025, and how much it cost? Well, we have the details, and all you need to do is scroll below to know it.
Samantha Ruth Prabhu’s Stunning Ring Cost Rs 1.5 Cr?
Priyanshu Goel – India’s first celebrity jewellery expert, took to his Instagram handle soon after the newlyweds dropped the pictures and analysed Samantha’s ring. In the video, he claims that the jewellery piece was a lozenge-cut diamond ring, but states he was not convinced initially. He goes on to add that a lozenge-cut diamond is rare and often comes with steps at the centre. But Samantha’s ring was plain. However, after some research, he then found another lozenge-cut diamond with a plain centre. The celebrity jewellery expert then claimed that this ring is one of the most unique engagement rings that any actor has been spotted wearing.
In the same video, Goel further notes that the ring’s exquisite design features 8 petals of portrait-cut diamond with a 2k diamond at the centre. He claims that such a ring would come with a price tag of around Rs 1.5 crore – at the very least. He wrote in the caption, “It looks effortless on her hand, but the engineering behind it is extremely complex. Only a few workshops in the world cut and assemble portrait diamonds at this level.”
For all the nerds wanting to know more, a lozenge-cut diamond is characterised by a stretched rhombus shape featuring step-cut facets and pointed corners. It was popularised between the 1920s and 1930s, aka the Art Deco era. Now, decades later, it’s once more emerging as a trend. According to Jewelers Mutual, a lozenge-cut diamond boasts a symmetrical balance but has fewer facets than brilliant cuts; hence, they don’t sparkle as brightly as other cuts. It displays a ‘soft glow with intermittent flashes of light that dance across its surface’. A good lozenge-cut diamond engagement ring falls in the 0.5k to 2k range.
“This Historic Cut Was Originally Used In Mughal-Era Jewellery”
Talking about the ring, jeweller Abhilasha Bhandari of Abhilasha Pret Jewellery earlier told HTCity that the actress wore a portrait-cut diamond – one of the oldest and most timeless diamond styles. She explained, “Samantha wore a beautiful portrait-cut diamond ring that features the rare and exquisite Portrait Cut — a very thin, flat diamond with a large top surface and almost no depth. This historic cut was originally used in Mughal-era jewellery to cover miniature paintings and royal portraits.”
Further describing the cut, Abhilasha said, “(It is) a cut that resembles strength, vitality, clean character of itself and the wearer… The transparent nature of the cut and the gem has to be the best and of the most supreme quality… This type of diamond has a very large surface area that is visible to the naked eye.”
Samantha & Raj’s Wedding
For her wedding to Raj Nidimoru, Samantha looked ethereal in a bridal red hand‑woven Banarasi saree made of pure Katan satin silk by a single master artisan. The saree – a custom Arpita Mehta ensemble, featured delicate powder‑zari buttis, a Nishi‑woven border enhanced by subtle beige‑gold zardozi embroidery using saadi taar, cutt dana, kasab and tiny mirrors that created an understated yet rich finish.
