1. Anu Aggarwal: Actress Anu Aggarwal had made her debut with the hit film ‘Aashiqui’ in 1990. Later, she decided to quit her career and joined an ashram in Uttarakhand. After she survived a life taking car accident, she took sanyas. She usually puts up a lot of pictures on her Instagram handle where she is seen doing yoga.

2. Vinod Khanna: Vinod Khanna had also taken similar steps by leaving the industry briefly to join the Osho ashram only to come back to his films later on. However, he had done this for his own ‘spiritual awakening’.

3. Sofia Hayat: Sofia Hayat, who was a contestant on Bigg Boss 7 in 2013, had also decided to leave this industry to become a spiritual nun. She changed her name from Sofia Hayat to Gaia Mother Sofia. Even after becoming a nun, Sofia was trolled. She often falls prey to criticism because of her bold posts.

4. Barkha Madan: The once-popular Bollywood diva who played a ghost in the movie “Bhoot” decided to become a Buddhist nun and adopted the name Gyalten Samsen. According to reports, Madan got captivated by Dalai Lama’s charm in 2002 and took the decision to follow Buddhism. To fulfil her wish to serve the society she moved to a Kathmandu monastery in 2012 where she became a nun with the supported by her parents.

5. Zaira Wasim: Zaira announced her bold decision to quit acting, saying she was not at all pleased with her acting profession as it interfered with her faith and religion. Zaira started her career in Bollywood with Aamir Khan’s ‘Dangal’. The National Award-winning actor said that she has completed five years in the profession and she wanted to “confess that she is not truly happy with this identity i.e her line of work. She had shared a long note on social media and a part of it read, “This field indeed brought a lot of love, support and applause my way, but what it also did was to lead me to a path of ignorance, as I silently and unconsciously transitioned out of ‘imaan’,” she said, referring to her faith. She added, “While I continued to work in an environment that consistently interfered with my ‘imaan’, my relationship with my religion was threatened.”
