Rajinikanth starrer Annaatthe is one of the most awaited movies of South. And much to fans’ excitement, the very first song which is a title track got released. The song has peppy and foot-tapping music coupled with Rajinikanth’s classic swag and soulful voice of late singer S.P Balasubrahmanyam. Unfortunately, this is the last song that legendary singer SP Balasubrahmanyam recorded before he passed away. S. P Balasubrahmanyam crooned several times for the megastar, however, this is the final song.

Speaking of the song, the same is composed by D Imman, and the lyrics are written by Viveka. Following the song’s release, actor Rajinikanth wrote an emotional note remembering the singer, whose first death anniversary was observed recently. The actor, on Twitter, wrote, “For 45 years, SPB’s voice gave life to my characters. Not in my wildest dreams did I think that the song he sang for Annaatthe would be his last. My dear SPB. lives on through his voice (sic).”

As mentioned earlier, SP Balasubrahmanyam sang many songs for Rajinikanth. Some of the iconic songs that will be always cherished are Athaanda Idhaana, Oruvan Oruvan Mudhalaali, Vandhenda Paalkaaran, and more. SPB also sang for Rajinikanth’s previous film Darbar- Chumma Kizhi and Mass Marna with Anirudh Ravinchander. And now, with the Annaatthe Annaatthe song, their four-decade-old collaboration has come to an end.

Talking about the movie, Annaatthe is an action drama movie. The same is written and directed by Siva. The movie also features Meena, Khushbu, Nayanthara and Keerthy Suresh, Jackie Shroff, Jagapathi Babu, Prakash Raj and Vela Ramamoorthy in pivotal roles. The drama is produced by Kalanithi Maran under the banner of Sun Pictures and is all set for theatrical release on the 4th of November, on the occasion of Diwali.
