Ranike, who was in Sangrur to chair a meeting of SAD’s Scheduled Caste (SC) cell, said, “Diljit Dosanjh is a Punjabi and he should not have been part of a movie which has been made to defame Punjab. He is projecting a negative image of the state through this movie and he should feel ashamed of doing so.”

Although, an interesting fact is that actor Shahid Kapoor who is also a part of the movie is a Punjabi too in real life. But the Minister only targeted Diljit Dosanjh who is a popular name in Punjab and has a huge fan following back home.

Diljit did have his supporters too, and one among them is Sangrur MP Bhagwant Mann who himself is an actor and said, “What can a SAD minister understand about actors and their work. Now, will SAD ministers teach us what role we should play and what we should not?” In fact, after this movie the calm actor Diljit Dosanjh is only going to increase his fan following in every other state.
