RRR continues golden run, wins Best Foreign Language Film and Best Song for Naatu Naatu at Critics Choice Awards 2023

SS Rajamouli’s magnum opus RRR is having a great run at the ongoing international award season. After big wins at the New York Film Critic Circle Awards and Golden Globes 2023, RRR has added some more wins at the Critics Choice Awards 2023. The film garnered two big honours at the prestigious award show.

RRR wins at Critics Choice Awards 2023

Held on January 15, 2023 in the US, Critics Choice Awards honoured RRR in the Best Foreign Language Film category along with bestowing Best Original Song award for Naatu Naatu on it. RRR was nominated in total five categories at the show, including Best Picture, Best Director and Best Visual Effects.

Rajamouli was present at the ceremony to accept the awards, and a viral video on the internet shows the filmmaker posing with his trophies to the paparazzi there. The director wore a black kurta pajama, paired with a stylish scarf.

He even met Titanic and Avatar filmmaker James Cameron at the ceremony who lauded Rajamouli’s RRR and admitted to have watching it twice, while also suggesting it to his wife. The Indian filmmaker chronicled this precious instant through a heartfelt post on his social media as well.

Odds increase for Oscars 2023 win for RRR

Naatu Naatu from RRR also won the Golden Globe Award recently in the Best Original Song category, with Rajamouli and his leading men Ram Charan and Jr NTR in attendance. Now with this second win for the song, the odds of it getting nominated and eventually winning at the Oscars 2023 have just gotten stronger. It had made it to the shortlist of 15 songs that was announced by the Academy last month. The final nominations list for Oscars 2023 will be announced on January 24, 2023.
