Politico Mani Shankar Aiyar gave the Ashok Stambh trophy, a bronze medal and a certificate to the dancer-choreographer. Sandip says, “He has keen interest in art and has told me that I’ve done a good job.”

Sandip says that the responsibility has increased with this honour. “Our country has always been supportive of traditional dance, and in the past few years, we have opened up to different forms as well. We are not only welcoming international dancers, but have also been showcasing our art in foreign countries. Today, ballroom dancing has become popular too. An award of this stature puts a lot of responsibility on me to make sure I keep the authenticity of international dances alive in the country,” he signs off.
