Director Shankar’s son-in-law Rohit booked under the POCSO act in connection to a sexual harassment of a minor

Popular film director S Shankar’s son-in-law Rohit Damodaran has been booked under the POCSO (The Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Act for sexually harassing a 16-year-old girl. As per NewIndianExpress.com, Rohit Damodaran, captain of a cricket club, his father Damodaran, who is secretary of the club, Thamarai Kannan, a cricket coach, and two others were named in the same complaint which was lodged by the victim with the Mettupalayam police in Puducherry on Tuesday. Shankar’s son-in-law Rohit Damodaran is the owner of the Madurai Panthers cricket team and is also the captain of the Puducherry cricket team.

As per reports, the girl had gone for cricket coaching and was sexually harassed by the suspects. The victim wrote a complaint to the Child Welfare Committee after she was threatened with dire consequences if she lodged a complaint with the authorities. The complainant accused Thamarai Kannan of allegedly ‘touching her shoulders, back and chest’. Despite the warnings and complaints to the committee from the minor, she reportedly continued receiving messages from the coach. She also mentioned that the accused allegedly ‘blackmailed’ her parents to discourage them from lodging a complaint.

For the unversed, director Shankar’s eldest daughter Aishwarya is married to Rohit Damodaran. They tied the knot in Chennai in June this year. The grand wedding was attended by chief minister M.K. Stalin and other Kollywood celebrities.

Meanwhile, Shankar is busy with several projects. He is currently gearing up to complete filming Kamal Haasan’s Indian 2. He recently teamed with Bollywood star Ranveer Singh for the Hindi-language remake of the 2005 Tamil blockbuster Anniyan. He is also gearing up for his next with Ram Charan.
