Actor-producer Sivakarthikeyan has moved Madras High Court accusing Mr Local producer K.E. Gnanavelraja of not paying his remuneration of Rs. 15 crore in full for the Tamil movie Mr. Local in 2018-19. The actor said that only Rs. 11 crore was paid to him when he signed the film and the remaining Rs. 4 crore is yet to be paid. In the complaint, Sivakarthikeyan said that he had entered into an agreement with the producer on July 6, 2018, for accepting to play the lead role in the film. As per the agreement, his remuneration was Rs. 15 crore and it was to be paid in different installments with the last of Rs. 1 crore to be paid before the release of the movie.

As per a report in The Hindu, the Jersey actor has urged the court to restrain the producer from making any further investments in the latter’s ongoing films titled Rebel, Chiyan 61 and Pathu Thala and also injunct him from transferring any rights with respect to the three movies either to film distributors for theatrical release or to OTT platforms.

The case will be heard on Thursday. Sivakarthikeyan was given a notice by the Income Tax Department on February 1 since the producer had failed to remit TDS for the payment of Rs. 11 crore. He had filed a petition challenging the notice, but Rs. 91 lakh was deducted from his account that made him to file the current case against the producer.

On the work front, Sivakarthikeyan will be seen in Tamil science-fiction thriller, Ayalaan directed by Ravi Kumar.
