Kim Han Bin, who goes by the stage name B.I and a former member of the K-pop band iKON, has admitted to the illegal drug use charges against him. The first trial of B.I was held on August 26 at the Criminal Settlement of the Seoul Central District Court. The singer has faced charges of violation of the Act on the Control of Narcotics, Etc for purchasing and consuming marijuana and LSD (lysergic acid diethylamide) in 2016.

Ahead of his hearing, a day before, B.I had submitted a letter of apology to the court which was sent through his agency IOK Company, it read, “I can’t turn back the past and my mistakes as they have already happened but I have been thinking about how I can help improve the world and help create a better society for the rest of my life.”

The prosecution had stated that B.I had used marijuana three times during 2016 and along with that also purchased LSD then. Admitting to the charges, B.I had said, “I admit to all of these charges and am self-reflecting.”

As per allkpop.com, during the hearing, B.I made a statement in court that read, “I made a completely foolish mistake in the past. I was young and naive, but even so, I was foolish for what I did. I hurt my family. I will never repeat a foolish mistake like this again. I will continue to reflect on myself. I want to protect those I cherish” But the prosecution is said to have demanded a sentence of 3 years in prison and a fine of 1.5 million KRW (USD 1,300)
