With the latest earnings, Barbie now holds the second spot for the highest-grossing film of the year, just behind The Super Mario Bros. Movie from Universal Pictures, which has amassed an impressive $1.35 billion in ticket sales since its release in April.

In the US, two new films debuted this week. Warner Bros.’ Meg 2: The Trench secured the second position, earning $30 million in ticket sales, as per Comscore Inc.’s estimates. Meanwhile, Paramount Pictures’ Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem landed in the fourth position, bringing in $28 million, trailing behind Universal Pictures’ Oppenheimer.

The competition was fierce, but Barbie managed to capture the hearts of moviegoers and dominate the box office charts.
