Kim Kardashian

Kim Kardashian is set to testify in a Paris court today to speak about a terrifying robbery she experienced in 2016. During Paris Fashion Week, she was staying in a luxury hotel suite when a group of men broke in, tied her up, and stole jewellery worth about $9 million. This included a $4 million engagement ring from her then-husband, Kanye West.

Kim Kardashian To Appear In Court

Kim will testify about the night she was held at gunpoint. Ten people are currently on trial for their roles in the crime. Some of the suspects are elderly and have health issues, but prosecutors say the robbery was well-planned. The group used burner phones and parked nearby to avoid drawing attention.

A hotel employee, Abderrahmane Ouatiki, who worked as a night receptionist, described Kim as completely hysterical during the robbery. He also said he was pressured into acting as an interpreter for the robbers. Later, he faced public suspicion, lost his student status, and had to return to Algeria. He called the experience a catastrophe that ruined his life.

Although the stolen jewels were never found, police believe they were broken up and sold. Kim has spoken in the past about how scared she was that night, even fearing she would be assaulted. She said in a 2020 interview, “I was like, ‘Okay, this is the time I’m going to get raped.’”

The trial is drawing a lot of media attention. Experts say that by testifying, Kim is reclaiming her story. In 2016, many joked about the robbery, but now, her role as a witness shows strength and may change public perception. Her appearance in court today is an important step in closing a painful chapter.
