Michael Madsen, who was known for his powerful roles in films like Reservoir Dogs and Kill Bill, has died at the age of 66. He was found unresponsive at his home in Malibu, California, on Thursday morning. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department confirmed his death, as per AP. His manager, Ron Smith, said the likely cause was cardiac arrest.

Madsen had a long career in Hollywood, acting in over 300 films and TV shows since the early 1980s. He was best known for playing tough, intense characters. One of his most famous roles was Mr. Blonde in Quentin Tarantino’s Reservoir Dogs. He also worked with Tarantino on other films like Kill Bill: Vol. 1 & 2 and The Hateful Eight.

In 2020, at a handprint ceremony at the TCL Chinese Theatre, Madsen spoke about his early days in Hollywood. He said he once walked around the city wondering what his future would be. “I could have been a bricklayer. I could have been a garbage man. I could have been nothing,” he said. “But I got lucky. I got lucky as an actor.”

Madsen was recently working on several independent film projects, including Resurrection Road, Concessions, and Cookbook for Southern Housewives. His managers and publicist said in a joint statement that he had been excited about the next chapter in his career.
