The Traitors Review

The Traitors is hosted by Karan Johar. Vying for the grand cash prize of Rs 1 Crore, 20 players will compete in the ultimate game of trust and deception to unmask the traitors from among them. The series begins with the players arriving at a royal palace in Jaisalmer. They arrived with the hope of winning the accumulated cash. Players have been identified as ‘innocents’, but the unknown among them will be the ‘traitors’. Traitors have been carefully and secretly chosen at the beginning of the show by the host. In this game of vicious twists and turns, cold-hearted deception, and constant manipulations, the traitors will need to eliminate the innocents. It is unless the innocents can identify them before it’s too late! Read our review of The Traitors to know what happens next.

What Works

Probably, one might end up liking how each episode ends with what the next move of the traitor would be. Is it that they will kill some innocent, or will they select an innocent as a traitor? The Circle of Shaq is an interesting concept, almost like a confrontational ground every day. The audience can enjoy the different games that the contestants need to play to survive.

What Doesn’t Work

When you cast content creators, influencers alongside extremely high-profile characters in a Reality TV show, the essence of the game gets lost. The focus seems to be on the so-called experienced cast members and their pathetic behaviours toward others. The concept of turning peers into enemies while maintaining fake smiles is a fascinating psychological study; perhaps a glimpse into behaviours that could someday lead to serious consequences. The over-the-top dramatics and fake acting overshadow any good twists. People who have participated in reality shows earlier are unable to complete basic physical tasks.

Technical Analysis

Direction

The casting, videography, and set design are solid, yet the game designers need to be replaced. The game itself is brainless and already dead on arrival. The voting process becomes dull because there’s little to go on. Confrontations seemed to be forced and not real, as the show suggests.

Writing & Screenplay

This is the part that an audience will never appreciate; there is hardly any suspense one might encounter. The show is filled with but obvious, very predictable plot lines, such as identifying one of the traitors. Then the cast is expected to play innocent, but the will to watch is going to be dead by then.

Music

The music choices are horrendous! Unwanted sounds blaring aggressively into the ears can cause nauseousness. There’s no way one could enjoy this show with the sound on because of the atrocious, inconsiderate music choices. They ruin what could be an engaging experience.

Star Performances

Without wanting to pinpoint anyone, just talking about the acting, too much drama, making things obvious is not what viewers will always look for. Pushing friends to question their bond or prove how everyone suffers with trust issues or can be trapped in mind games, just doesn’t seem to fit when trying to enact.

Conclusion

To conclude The Traitors review, if you enjoy a mix of Khatron Ke Khiladi, MTV Roadies, Spitsvilla, Lock Up featuring influencers and celebs, only then this might be for you. The players need to stop with the unnecessary fakery and the badass attitude. This has become played out and tiresome. The show should have potential traitors, who would be able to sabotage missions and secretly add money to the pot, giving faithful players hints and making it more engaging. Viewers should not know who the traitors are, so they can play along and be genuinely shocked.

We hope our review of The Traitors will help you decide to watch it.
