Phillauri

Yesterday, Anushka Sharma’s ‘Phillauri‘ hit the big screens and the first day box office numbers are here. The movie has done a business of Rs 3.50-3.75 crore nett on the opening day and it’s not an impressive number. Although, the movie did a good business in East Punjab and Delhi city, in Mumbai, Kolkata and Bangalore, the collection is even less than that of ‘NH10’ which had an all India opening business of Rs 3.25 crore nett. The numbers in East Punjab are even higher than that of movies like ‘Rangoon’, ‘Kaabil’ and ‘Shivaay’ and this is majorly due to the presence of Diljit Dosanjh. This has benefited the movie to a good extent. The numbers of East Punjab could be considered as the highest.

The movie needs around 40% growth on Saturday to have a decent weekend. The movie received mixed reviews from the critics. Let’s see how it fares on Saturday and Sunday.

The other two movies that released yesterday, Swara Bhaskar-starrer ‘Anaarkali Of Aarah’ and ‘Bhanwarey’ did very poor business.

Also, the third Friday business of Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt’s ‘Badrinath Ki Dulhania’ is Rs 1.25 crore nett and the total collection is Rs 99.25 crore nett. We can safely say that the movie will soon touch the 100-crore mark.
