Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar’s ‘Toilet – Ek Prem Katha’ has brought in a lot of hope for the failing industry. None of the films in the recent past have managed to make it big at the box office including Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Jab Harry Met Sejal’. But, Akshay’s ‘TEPK’ has broken the trend by registering good numbers at the box office in its first week itself.

As per Box Office India, ‘Toilet – Ek Prem Katha’ has managed to make approximately Rs 94 crore at the box office. With this we can call ‘TEPK’ a success as the production budget of this film as per Wikipedia is Rs 18 crore. The film that holds a social message received average reviews from the critics, but going by the numbers, audiences seem to like the film. Plus, the extended weekend, thanks to Independence day, has worked wonders for the film. ‘Toilet – Ek Prem Katha’ received a superb opening on day one and the trend followed in the upcoming days. With this, we are certain that ‘TEPK’ will surely make it into Rs 100 crore club. (Also Read: Toilet – Ek Prem Katha movie review: Capable of striking meaningful conversations)

On the other hand, Shah Rukh Khan and Anushka Sharma’s ‘Jab Harry Met Sejal’ has managed to collect around Rs 61.88 crore at the box office in two weeks. The performance of this film has been extremely poor.

This week, we have Ayushmann Khurrana, Kriti Sanon and Rajkummar Rao’s ‘Bareilly Ki Barfi’ making it to the theatres. It has opened to positive reviews so let’s see whether it manages to rake in money at the box office or not.
