We often like to take a dig at others, but makers of ‘Bank Chor’ have done something totally opposite. To promote their film, they took a dig at themselves. Every now and then they were just making everyone feel that their movie is going to be a brainless comedy. Well actually they came up with a promotional strategy that will make the audiences rush to theatres and come back surprised. Writing a ‘Bank Chor’ movie review makes us really happy as we are mighty impressed with this film that made us laugh, smile and applaud.

The movie is about Champak (Riteish Deshmukh), who along with Gulab (Bhuvan Arora) and Genda (Vikram Thapa), has come to rob a bank. But their plan goes haywire when police and CBI come to know about the robbery. Enter Amjad Khan (too hot to handle, Vivek Oberoi). Believe us, in recent films none of the heroes had such a smashing entry. Now Amjad feels that behind this bank robbery, there is a big scam, but we are shown that Champak, Gulab and Genda are just three dumb heads. So is there actually a big scam or is Amjad Khan taking these three people too seriously? Watch the film to know and get ready for surprises.

Baljeet Singh Marwah and Bumpy have used their brains while writing the story. The twist at the interval and climax will make your eyes go wide. We mean you will actually say WTF! The screenplay too is quite good, but there are a few sequences especially in the first half that are a bit boring. But, the film’s pace in the second half is amazing. Bumpy is brilliant in his direction. His narration keeps you hooked throughout. This film could have easily been predictable, but Bumpy manages to keep the surprises secret till they are unveiled. Bravo for that. The makers have also very smartly kept the running time of the film short, just 120 minutes. So, it is short and gripping, and doesn’t drag much. One more thing that is very impressive is that there are no songs because if there would have been any song in the film, it would have been a hurdle in the engaging narration.

While watching the film, one thing kept us wondering – when was the last time Vivek Oberoi looked so hot! The actor, as Amjad Khan, is awesome, and this movie proves how underutilised he has been. Riteish Deshmukh as Champak is excellent. Rhea Chakraborty finally gets a role that gives her scope to showcase her acting talent and she is damn good. By the way, in the first half there’s a sequence that made us go laugh out loud and that was featuring Rhea. Bhuvan Arora as Gulab and Vikram Thapa are also good in their roles. One actor who will surprise you is Sahil Vaid. He is fantastic in his part, and yes, he steals the show from all the actors in the second half.

On the whole, ‘Bank Chor’ is full of surprises and a perfect blend of comedy and thriller. A must watch for people who love paisa vasool films.

By the way, this could have easily been a ‘Dhoom 4’, but yes without bikes and fancy clothes.
