After getting delayed for around two years, Amit Roy’s ‘Running Shaadi’ is all set to hit the screens now. The film stars Amit Sadh, Taapsee Pannu and Arsh Bajwa in the lead roles. The trailer of the film was quite promising that the movie will offer us something that we haven’t seen. But does the film live upto the expectations? Let’s find out here in the ‘Running Shaadi’ movie review.

So, the film starts with a love story between Bharose (Amit) and Nimmi (Taapsee). The former works in the shop owned by the latter’s father. But after dating for few months, due some circumstances, the two breakup, and Bharose also leaves his job. One day he and his friend, Cyberjeet (Arsh Bajwa) go for a wedding. The bride runs away, but then later her family finds her and her boyfriend and takes her back. After seeing this, Bharose gets an idea of a business to make people run with a proper planning and get them married. Bharose and Cyberjeet start a website named Runningshaadi.com. Their business is going quite well. But, one day a twist comes when Nimmi requests Bharose to help her in running with her boyfriend Shunty. Nimmi and Shunty’s wedding is going to be the 50th wedding for Runningshaadi.com. However, something very surprising happens. The big twist in the tale. Well, don’t worry we’re giving no spoilers here. What the twist is and how the story moves forward, for that you need to watch the film.

The concept of the film is excellent. Like just imagine, a website that helps you elope and get married to the person you love. But then we hope the writers had concentrated on building up this concept instead of making this one a light-hearted love story. The story is not at all similar to ‘Band Baaja Baaraat’ as some of us thought after watching the trailer. But the handling of the film is kind of same. In the second half, the film concentrates on the personal life of the owners of the business. Even in the first half there are a few scenes that are dull. Amit Roy’s narration is decent, but he being one of the writers could have focused more on Runningshaadi.com, than the love story of Bharose and Nimmi. One more thing that irritates a little is the censoring of the word ‘.com’. They have beeped the word, but while a character mouths it, his lips also get blurred and that was like a disturbance in the film. But well, don’t be disappointed as this film will entertain you nevertheless. The writers have very well kept moments that will make you laugh out loud.

The biggest strength of this film is the actors. Amit Sadh is impressive as Bharose and Arsh Bajwa is simply fantastic. But, Taapsee is the best of the lot. We just reviewed ‘The Ghazi Attack’ yesterday, and we literally felt that she was wasted in the film. Thankfully, in this one she is the show stealer. Taapsee as Nimmi is wonderful, and her comic timing too is great. The actors who play Bharose’s mama (uncle) and mami (aunty) are excellent. Watch out for mami’s dance in the song ‘Pyar Ka Test’.

In the music department too this film is quite good. The tracks ‘Pyar Ka Test’ and ‘Dimpi De Naal Bhaage Bunty’ are amazing.

On the whole, ‘Running Shaadi’ is a sweet, romantic, funny film, with some great performances by its cast. But, don’t expect this one to be a great watch.
