Coffee With D poster

With an unique story to narrate, comedian Sunil Grover is coming with his debut film ‘Coffee With D’ helmed by Vishal Mishra. As the trailer suggests, Sunil has turned the famous journalist named Arnab, who just yells, bangs and creates ruckus during his interview session. But then as everything comes with a deadline, his antics too have a deadline as it gets boring after a while. He has to come up with something new or else his job is at stake. Hence, he leaves on an expedition to get an interview with none other than the gangster Dawood Ibrahim. Now Sunil Grover aka Guthi aka Arnab interviewing Dawood Ibrahim, isn’t this enough to put us in a laughter riot?

But keeping aside the comedy aspect of the film, ‘Coffee With D’ is the director’s way to seek revenge from the gangster. A revenge with a tinge of laughter. In his recent interview, Vishal has revealed the thought behind this movie. He says, “I have been a film critic for last 5 years and a film buff all my life. The underworld dons have always been glorified as they have style and flare along with some bunch of girlfriends. There’s nothing realistic about them. When I was reading about Dawood Ibrahim, I realised that we have a DON who has a gangrene, doesn’t have money to travel and is on a mercy of an enemy government.  There’s nothing close to what we saw in films. He is not in the country as he is absconding. His brother was hanged last year in Nagpur, but he was missing. I felt there was a huge disconnect. I conceptualised that there should be revenge even if it’s on screen. So that’s why it is ‘Bomb ka badla bezeitti Se’. But the revenge has to be in a funny way.”

‘Coffee With D’ that also stars Zakir Husain, Deepanita Sharma and many more would be releasing on January 6, 2016.
