Farhan Akhtar in rock on 2

Farhan Akhtar and Shraddha Kapoor-starrer ‘Rock On 2‘ did not live up to expectations of the audiences and did poor business at the box office in just its first weekend. Of course, it was a big blow for the entire team of the movie who had expected the sequel of ‘Rock On’ to fair equally well as the first part or better than that. But the movie did not fare well and the man who has been closely associated with the film from its first instalment, Farhan Akhtar was very disappointed, but had a logical explanation to it.

Speaking to a leading daily, Farhan said, “I think it is affecting daily life, going to a film is part of daily life. The fact that there are less notes available in the market, people are not able to get their hands on 100, 500 rupee notes so it is definitely a problem. Jiskay paas thoda bohot hai woh film ticket pe nahi kharchana chah rahe hai. They want to cover essential things first (those who have some money, don’t want to spend on movie tickets).”

His reasoning for the movie not working did seem logical, considering the fact that the effects of demonetisation are still making people wait in long queues outside banks. It would have been a wise decision to postpone the release, but who had expected this to happen, right?

‘Rock On 2’ directed by Shujaat Saudagar and produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani also features Purab Kohli, Arjun Rampal, Prachi Desai and Shashank Arora in pivotal roles.
