Apart from being a successful actor, Mithun Chakraborty is a successful entrepreneur too. He owns various in the regions of Ooty, Darjeeling, Siliguri and Kolkata. He considers Ooty to be a very lucky place for him because most of his films which had a backdrop of Ooty were a super hit at the box-office. He even relocated himself to the hilly-regions and turned into an entrepreneur. Following this, he is one of the highest tax-payers too.

Secret wedding with Sridevi!

Mithun Da is married to Yogita Bali and has two kids but there was a time when Mithun Da was quite famous for his relationship with ‘Hawa Hawai’ girl Sridevi. Yes, he was deeply in love with the gorgeous diva and was briefly married to her too. Reports suggest that despite being a married man, Mithun Da couldn’t control his fondness for Sridevi and indulged in a secret wedding with her. It was only after a newspaper published their marriage certificate that their relationship became public.

A pet lover!

Mithun Da is a self confessed pet lover who takes care of 38 dogs and provides shelter to some of the unusual birds in his residence. He fondly addresses his dogs as his kids and loves them unconditionally.

A Comic Hero!

Mithun Chakraborty has a comic hero inspired by him. A comic book called ‘Jimmy Zhinchak -Agent of Disco’ had been released and the central character of this comic book was that of a fighter fighting the goon on a dance floor.

Assistant to Helen!

Mithun Da was not born with a silver spoon and hence, it was a task for him to carve a place for himself in the film industry. Before he received his big break, Mithun Da was the assistant to dancing diva Helen. He was then known as Rana Rej and assisted Helen on her various projects. While doing so, he acquired a small 2 minute role in Amitabh Bachchan’s ‘Do Anjane’ wherein he played the role of Big B’s neighbour.

A Record breaker!

In his 4-decade-long career, Mithun Chakraborty has featured in more than 350 films and well, he has a record too. In the year 1989, approximately 19 films featuring Mithun Da made it to the theatres. This is definitely a record hard to break!

Elvis Presley fan!

If we are talking about Mithun Da then we cannot not talk about his dancing skills. He is known as the ultimate disco dancer of Bollywood and well, it has all come from Hollywood musician and actor Elvis Presley. Mithun Da considered Elvis Presley as his hero. In one of the interviews he said, ‘I was a huge fan of Elvis Presley. If you see my movies, you’ll notice that I have been copying his moves. I used to go and watch his films five, six times at least. I then tried to copy his steps in front of the mirror. But I developed my own style of dancing as I couldn’t replicate all his moves. And that’s how Mithun Chakraborty style of dancing came to the fore; it is nothing but Elvis Presley style of dancing gone wrong!

Wrestler!

Mithun Da is a trained wrestler and has won West Bengal State Wrestling Championship in Junior Category. In one of his interviews he revealed that he has been trained in Greco-Roman Style and he tries to incorporate it in the action sequences he used to do in his films.

A Naxalite!

Before entering Bollywood industry, Mithun Chakraborty was a part of a Naxalite group and was friends with Naxalite Ravi Rajan. Mithun Da underwent training in martial arts and acquired black belt. Reports suggest that it was only after his brother’s accidental death that Mithun Da quit Naxalism. His brother was electrocuted and killed in an accident and this left a huge impact on the actor.

He is not Mithun!

Though each and everyone in the film industry know him as Mithun Chakraborty but, his real name is something else. His parents had named him Gouranga Chakraborty but, as he didn’t find this name appealing enough to make a big name in the Bollywood industry, he changed his name to Mithun Chakraborty.
