Drishyam 3: Mohanlal Starrer Postponed! Film To Now Release On THIS Date

The much-anticipated return of Georgekutty, portrayed by Mohanlal, has been slightly delayed. But the wait is finally over! The makers have officially confirmed the comeback of the suspense-driven franchise with the announcement of Drishyam 3. Scroll down to read more.

Mohanlal-Led Drishyam 3 To Now Release On A New Date

On Monday, Mohanlal confirmed that the film will now arrive in cinemas worldwide on May 21, 2026, coinciding with his birthday. It was initially slated for release on April 2 this year. The makers took to Instagram, sharing the update on social media. The post read, “The past never stays silent…it only waits. Georgekutty arrives, May 21st 2026. #Drishyam3 | Worldwide Release.” According to Indo-Asian News Service (IANS), the delay is likely due to ongoing tensions in the Middle East. Fans could barely contain their excitement. Expressing their anticipation, one user wrote, “Why so delay…. release it on the eve of Easter.” While another user commented, “Birthday special.”

In the Jeethu Joseph-directed film, Mohanlal reprises his role as Georgekutty, a TV cable operator. Aiming to live up to the success of its predecessors, the film carries forward Georgekutty’s story with a strong supporting cast. Mohanlal will also mark his 61st birthday around the time of the film’s release. Another major project, Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups, starring Yash, which was slated for March 19, has also been postponed.

About The Drishyam Franchise

The ensemble cast includes Meena, Ansiba Hassan, Esther Anil, Asha Sharath, Siddique, Murali Gopy, and KB Ganesh Kumar. Mohanlal completed shooting for the film in December last year. Notably, he began working on the project on the same day he was honoured with Indian cinema’s highest accolade, the Dadasaheb Phalke Award.

The Drishyam franchise has had a significant impact on Malayalam cinema. The first instalment, Drishyam, released in 2013, set a new benchmark for storytelling, while its sequel, Drishyam 2, carried forward the gripping narrative.
