Kannada actor Santhosh Balaraj passed away on Tuesday morning, August 5, at the age of 34. According to reports, he had been suffering from jaundice for the past few weeks, and despite treatment, his health continued to decline.
Santhosh Balaraj Dies At 34
Santhosh died at around 9:30 am in the ICU of Apollo Hospital in Kumaraswamy Layout, Bengaluru. Doctors had been treating him for serious liver and kidney-related issues that led to severe jaundice. He had been hospitalised since last month and had recently slipped into a coma.
Unfortunately, his organs could not recover, even with intensive care. Santhosh was known for his roles in Kannada films like Ganapa and Kariya 2. His sudden death has shocked fans and the Kannada film industry, where he was seen as a promising talent.
He was the son of late producer Anekal Balaraj, who had backed the 2013 film Kariya, starring Darshan. Anekal Balaraj passed away in a road accident in 2022. Santhosh was unmarried and lived with his mother.
Santhosh made his acting debut in 2009 with Kempa, which was produced by his father. However, he gained fame in 2015 with the action film Ganapa, directed by Prabhu Srinivas, which was a major hit. He was also appreciated for his role in the 2012 romantic drama Olavine Ole, based on honour killings, where he starred alongside Neha Patil.
He also acted in the 2013 film Janma, directed by Chakravarthi. His final film was Kariya 2, released in 2017. Santhosh’s passing has left a void in Sandalwood, with many mourning the loss of a young actor who had much more to offer.
