Actor and Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) leader Thalapathy Vijay has arrived in Delhi to undergo a second round of questioning by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) regarding the tragic Karur stampede that claimed 41 lives. As a witness, Vijay is being asked to revisit his previous statements to clarify details related to crowd management failures and event-related decisions.
Vijay Thalapathy Arrives For Second CBI Interrogation In Karur Stampede
This renewed summons indicates that investigators are seeking further clarity following his initial extensive questioning. This emphasises the case’s significance as one of the most high-profile investigations involving a public figure in recent times. Vijay was first questioned for over six hours at the CBI headquarters on January 12.
Although he was initially asked to appear the very next day, he requested a postponement, citing Pongal celebrations. He is now scheduled to appear before investigators around 11 am. As reported by Times Now, sources from the TVK stated that Vijay is expected to return to Chennai late Monday. This will be unless the authorities decide to extend the questioning.
Recent reports reveal that the CBI is planning to re-examine several aspects of Vijay’s earlier statements. This also includes questioning those made by other TVK members and Vijay’s driver. The investigation is reportedly observing a pattern and similarities in these responses. This may be a focus of this second round.
What Happened At The Karur Stampede?
During his previous interrogation, Vijay reportedly told investigators that serious lapses in crowd management by local police contributed to the deadly stampede on September 27. He explained that bottlenecks near the venue were not cleared in time. This caused congestion and restricted movement as the crowd surged. Vijay also justified leaving the scene after the incident, stating it was to prevent the situation from worsening further.
As the investigation intensifies, this second round of questioning is seen as a crucial step in reconstructing the sequence of events and determining accountability. The aim remains to ensure justice for the victims.
