Vijay Thalapathy's Jana Nayagan To NOT Release Before April 30

Vijay Thalapathy’s highly anticipated film Jana Nayagan is currently entangled in legal complications, leading to delays in receiving the censor certificate despite the filmmakers complying with all suggested edits. Even after the producers, KVN Productions, withdrew their petition in the Madras High Court challenging the Central Board of Film Certification’s (CBFC) decision to send the film for a revising committee review, it has now been officially announced that Vijay’s farewell film will not be released before April 30. The makers have advised fans to look out for refunds on their advance bookings.

Vijay Thalapathy’s Jana Nayagan To NOT Release Before April 30

The delay in the release of Vijay Thalapathy’s Jana Nayagan has been confirmed even after the petition withdrawal. An official statement announced that refunds for advance bookings are already underway, and the film’s release has been pushed further back.

Initially rumoured to release on February 20, Jana Nayagan has now faced yet another postponement. The new release date is set for after April 30. On Saturday, distributors stated X (formerly Twitter), informing audiences of the delay. They urged them to request refunds in light of the revised schedule.

Jana Nayagan CBFC Issue

The controversy surrounding Jana Nayagan began after the filmmakers submitted it to the CBFC on December 18, 2025. The Examining Committee suggested a few minor cuts, which the team promptly made. By December 22, the film was recommended for a UA certificate due to action sequences, gory visuals, and brief religious references. However, the process did not end there. Despite fulfilling all requirements, the film was sent to the Revising Committee on January 5 following a complaint about certain portrayals. With the release timeline now impacted, the producers approached the High Court on January 6, seeking urgent certification.

About Jana Nayagan

Originally scheduled for release on January 9, Jana Nayagan has faced multiple delays. Industry insiders suggest that these postponements could affect the film’s prospects. A major reason is the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections expected in April–May. Directed by H Vinoth, the film features Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol, Mamitha Baiju, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Priyamani, and others.
