In a candid moment on a recent podcast with Shubhankar Mishra, singer Mika Singh opened up about a question that has crossed many music lovers’ minds over the years—why Ankit Tiwari hasn’t achieved the kind of lasting prominence in Bollywood that his talent clearly deserves. Mika didn’t hold back as he heaped praises for “Sun Raha Hai Na Tu” singer and called him one of his personal favourites.

“I’ve never understood why Ankit Tiwari didn’t make it big in bollywood. Till date I couldn’t understand, why didn’t he get the opportunity that he deserves. He’s an amazing singer—my favorite, in fact. I don’t know why he couldn’t go further, only God knows. He’s one of the best singers out there. The controversy might be one reason, but moving ahead after something like that becomes really difficult. Still, he’s very talented, and his voice is absolutely beautiful. Songs like Sun Raha Hai Na Tu, Dil Darbadar, Teri Galliyan—what a voice he has.. they were all super hit songs,” Mika said.

It’s not just Mika Singh who feels this way. Artists like Arijit Singh, Shaan, and actor John Abraham previously praised Tiwari’s distinctive voice and emotional depth. Arijit once remarked in an interview that Ankit brought a “raw honesty” to his songs that’s rare in today’s commercial music scene.

Even Ankit Tiwari himself, in an earlier media interaction, acknowledged that he hasn’t received the recognition he believes he’s capable of. “I have not gotten that due in the industry. There is still a lot I want to offer. I haven’t explored my versatility yet,” he shared.
