There’s an incredible excitement in Surya Sharma’s voice when he talks about working with Konkona Sen Sharma. Surya describes his experience as nothing short of transformative. The duo headline the new Hotstar series Search, a new crime drama making waves

Surya Sharma Opens Up On Working With Konkona Sen Sharma

“When you’re working with someone like Konkona, you realise very quickly that acting isn’t about performance, it’s about truth,” he says, leaning back as if replaying the moments in his head. “She has this incredible ability to just be in the moment. Nothing feels rehearsed. You react to her, and before you know it, the scene starts breathing on its own.”

For Surya, the collaboration reaffirmed what he loves most about acting — connection. “Working with Konkona is like attending a masterclass — not because she’s teaching, but because she’s being. When you’re around that kind of honesty, you can’t help but grow.”

About Search: The Naina Murder Case

Directed by Rohan Sippy and written by Shreya Karunakaran and Shreya Anand, this adaptation of the Danish series ‘The Killing’ features familiar tropes. It revolves around a veteran cop, whose spouse (Mukul Chaddha) grows increasingly annoyed and distant, while their teenage daughter stores questionable personal files on her laptop. Meanwhile, a rookie cop gradually sheds his macho bravado to earn reluctant respect from a seasoned colleague. Although the clash feels predictable initially, by the third episode, the story evolves into more surprising and intense territory as dark secrets start to surface.
