Wazir Patar has never been the type to follow a straight road. The Punjabi hip-hop artist, producer, and director has built his name by blending the old and the new — mixing up folk melodies over heavy beats, stitching tradition into innovation. Now, he’s taken that same philosophy into an entirely different arena.
Wazir Patar Debuts Mini-Documentary WRZ Tank
His new mini-documentary and EP, Wazir Patar’s Mercedes W124: A Global Restoration, A Generational Movement, tell the story of a year-long mission to bring a 1990 Mercedes W124 E300 Turbo Diesel back to life. It’s been rebuilt from the ground up. Every part had a story — an engine from Germany, interior trims from Japan, suspension work done with care, even bolts tracked down from corners of the world most people would never think to look.
It was never about showing off a car. It was about proving something. “In music, I take pieces of the past — sounds from my culture, instruments from my roots — and I work them into something new without losing their soul,” Wazir says. He added, “This car was the same. It had a soul. I just had to bring it back. Basically, we spent everything on our dreams — shonk & cars — starting a different trend in East Punjab that was never done before, at least not with this kind of precision when it comes to a car.”
WRZ Tank Songs
The EP mirrors the stages of this journey. The first track, WRZ Tank Song, is about making your trend — “das mainu hava kehde pase di chala deya” — an anthem of self-direction. The second, AMG, celebrates the power and presence of the machine itself. The third, A Day in Merc, captures the feeling of driving the W124 and the reactions it sparks on the road.
The documentary captures more than mere mechanics. It’s about patience in a world that moves too fast, about valuing what lasts when so much feels disposable. The EP is raw and unapologetic, pairing hip-hop grit with the romance of something timeless.
For Wazir, it’s about making old-school cool again, reminding a generation that not everything needs replacing. Some things, whether it’s a car, a song, or a piece of culture are worth the time it takes to rebuild. “This isn’t just about a Mercedes. It’s about showing the world that East Punjab can lead trends, not just follow them. Whether it’s a track or a car, we can build something that stands on its own,” he says.
Wazir’s Journey
Wazir Patar’s journey to this point has been as distinctive as his sound. Rising from the heart of Punjab’s underground hip-hop scene, he became one of the most sought-after producers in the game. He worked closely with the late Sidhu Moosewala on tracks that defined a new era for Punjabi music. His signature production blends raw street energy with a deep respect for folk tradition, a fusion now spilling over into his projects.
The EP Wazir Patar’s WZR Tank drops tomorrow, with the documentary following just a few days later.
