Adrija Roy Talks About Fitness

Anupamaa actor Adrija Roy has a busy schedule that makes it difficult for her to follow a specific fitness regime. She has a flexible routine and said, “Since shoot schedules are so unpredictable, I rely a lot on yoga and freehand exercises that I can do anywhere.”

“During the lockdown, I really fell in love with a simple home workout regime that I still try to stick to whenever I get a break from the set,” she added.

Adrija Roy Practices Mindfulness By Staying Positive

She also shared that she practices mindfulness by staying positive and full of life. She said, “Spending quality ‘adda’ time with my family is my version of meditation; it keeps me grounded and mentally refreshed after a long day of work.”

She feels fitness is everything, especially for someone in the entertainment industry. She said, “Late-night shoots and early call times are just part of the job, so you need that stamina to keep going. But for me, fitness isn’t just about looking a certain way for the screen; it’s about feeling active and keeping that energy alive all day long.”

Adrija believes in following a balanced diet rather than anything too restrictive. She said, “I love my ‘What I Eat In A Day’ to be full of variety and lots of home-cooked meals that keep me fueled without feeling heavy. My go-to meal is a simple, nutritious lunch consisting of dal, sabzi, and a bit of rice or roti. It’s classic, comforting, and gives me the right kind of energy for a 12-hour shift.”

And revealed that hydration and small, healthy snacks are her secret. “I always keep my bag stocked with essentials; you have to be prepared when ‘pack-up’ keeps getting pushed back. I also make sure to squeeze in rest whenever possible; a quick power nap can work wonders. Also, fresh fruits are a non-negotiable for me, and of course, a healthy breakfast to kickstart the day is a must”, she said.

She confessed to having cheat days every once in a while. She said, “I am a total foodie at heart. I think it’s important to treat yourself, whether it’s a ‘Food Magic Challenge’ on set or a favorite dessert. If you’re happy and smiling, you’re already halfway to being fit.”

Adrija is very particular about her skin health and said, “My rule is moisturize, stay hydrated, and use minimum basic makeup whenever I’m not shooting to avoid any side effects. Wellness for me is also about spending ‘me-time’ reading or watching a movie to decompress.”

She stressed that in a fast-paced city like Mumbai, discipline is what keeps you from falling apart. She said, “Even if the hours are erratic, deciding to maintain a healthy routine like waking up early for yoga or choosing home food over junk is a choice you have to make every single day.”

Two fitness tips? “Never forget to smile; it’s the best exercise for your face and your soul. Keep it simple. You don’t need a fancy gym; freehand exercises and yoga can keep you fit and flexible no matter how busy you are,” Adrija ended.
