Ashish Kapoor Sent To 14-Day Judicial Custody By Delhi Court; Undergoes Medical Potency Test In Alleged R*pe Case

TV actor Ashish Kapoor has been sent to 14 days of judicial custody by Delhi’s Tis Hazari Court in connection with an alleged gang rape case. The order was given by Judicial Magistrate Payal Singhal after police interrogation. Ashish was arrested on September 2 in Pune based on a complaint filed by a woman.

Ashish Kapoor Sent To 14-Day Judicial Custody

The woman claimed that she was invited to a party in Ashish’s neighbourhood, where her drink was allegedly spiked. She said she lost consciousness and was then gang-raped in a washroom. An FIR was registered on August 11 under charges including rape, gang rape, and causing hurt. Initially, she had named other people, but later accused only Ashish of the crime.

After his arrest, Delhi Police requested five days of custody to recover his mobile phone and conduct a potency test. They also planned to investigate his role further and take him to Pune. On September 3, the court allowed four days of police custody and approved the potency test.

During the hearing, lawyers Deepak Sharma, Rajan Oberoi, and Somesh Oberoi argued that Ashish’s phone was with co-accused Kapil and Ritu Gupta, making custody unnecessary. They also said Kapil Gupta had already been granted anticipatory bail. Kapil is a pilot, while Ritu is a businesswoman.

Ashish’s earlier request for protection from arrest was dismissed after he was taken into custody in Pune. He was supposed to be presented before the court on September 7, but the police produced him a day earlier. The investigation continues. He is known for acting in TV shows such as Saraswatichandra, Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, and Bandini.
